BLUR ARE BACK!! [Dec. 30th, 2006|01:48 pm]
[Current Mood |giddygiddy]

BLUR are planning to make 2007 a year to remember.

DAMON ALBARN and GRAHAM COXON have finally buried the hatchet and agreed to reunite. For the first time in almost five years Damon, Graham, ALEX JAMES and DAVE ROWNTREE are set to make sweet music together.

The kings of Britpop made their mark in the Nineties with No1 album Parklife. And their 1995 single Country House beat arch rivals OASIS in a huge chart battle. But by the end of the century Damon fell out with Graham over his persistent drunken antics. In 2002 Blur’s management revealed Graham had been replaced on tour by former VERVE guitarist SIMON TONG.

But that was short-lived and the lads went their separate ways — with Damon setting up GORILLAZ and THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE QUEEN and Graham releasing a string of solo albums. Alex set up a cheese farm at his country house while Dave worked on animation show Empire Square. But it wasn’t until Damon appealed to Graham back in April to reform for one last show that they considered a revival.

And Graham took a lot of convincing. A source said: “Graham left Blur under a hazy cloud. He was worried that returning to the studio with the lads would be like moving backwards. Graham is over getting smashed every night and he didn’t want to go back to an environment where he will be tempted. But he has finally realised Blur have grown up and have families now. They are a totally different band to the one in the Nineties. As soon as Damon has finished his tour with The Good The Bad And The Queen in February they are planning to go into the studio. It will be one step at a time. It may not be a long-term project — it will probably be one last final Blur album to bring closure to the band. Just how it should have been.”

ANY GERMAN SPEAKERS? [May. 8th, 2006|10:37 pm]
Does anyone know, or can anyone translate, the lyrics to Albion in German?

Lately I feel the need to sing it in German. I think it would sound fascinating!

Dirty Pretty (even when drunk) Things... [May. 6th, 2006|08:44 am]
[Current Mood |tiredtired]

Last night was fucking magical!

I FINALLY MET CARL BARAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AND GARY TOO!!

We waited behind for DPT after the gig. It got to about 1am and the other people waiting got bored and went home, so Roux and me were waiting with two other women. FInally... after ages of agonising waiting... Carl Barat stumbles drunkenly through the doors (trilby, drink... all the necessary rock essentials) He looks at me and mumbles something like
'Alwight... have you seen my mother?'
I stare at him with in puzzlement, trying not to laugh, and I decide maybe it's best to just get his autograph and go if he's in such a drunken state.
'Can I get your autograph, please?' He looks at me as if I'm hiding something.
'Where's mother? Have you seen her? I need to find my mother.'
One of the women informs him that his mother got on the tour bus. He mutters something about talking to his mum but he'll be sure to return. He disappears into the bus and he's gone for a short while and we're not totally convinced he's coming back again. The two women feel the same because they decide to leave. Then Gary stumbles out with many bags, trying desperately not to spill his drink. I ask for his autograph and he's really lovely. He got me to hold his drink and signed our tickets then gave me a hug and we swapped some words then he popped off to the bus. We get distracted by crew members lying on their backs on the grass when they shout 'Woo! Shooting star!!!' and start embracing like they just won a million quid.

When we turn around, Carl is stood behind us.
'Ello' he says. I ask for his autograph again but, to my horror, my accents changed to my well-spoken polite voice (the kind I use on telephones). It's never happened before with anyone famous, why now?! But I think Carl finds it amusing. He takes my ticket, bows his head in a gentlemanly manner and says
'Of course, it would be a delight.' I feel like a giggly schoolgirl again. So some part of my brain thinks it's a good idea to say
'Can you write "You Fucking Love It", please? .... If you're not too drunk' It's said in jest but he gives a look of mock indignation at the implication that he can't hold his drink.
'Never...' he signs the ticket and some girl runs up (with her boyfriend) squealing about DPT and how she works in the Tap N Tin and they start talking, but I decided I would wait for a hug, since it's not likely I will run into Carl again anytime soon. They bugger off and I say
'Can I steal a hug?'
'Of course you can, I'll even give you one!'
Then we hugged and all was right with the world, fireworks exploded... ok, so maybe that last bit didn't happen, but it ended on a lovely hug, he shook Roux's hand, wished us well and he disappeared into the night (or the tourbus with his mum...) YAY!!!!!! What a splendid night.

[Current Music |Arctic Monkeys]

What a way to start the day!

I've got meself 2 tickets to see Dirty Pretty Things in Pompey!! I finally got the Arctic Monkeys album in the post and tonight I'm off to St.Mary's Stadium to see Saints v. Crystal Palace match.

How is everyone? How do you do?  I'm sorry I haven't posted for what seems like an age. I don't know how to begin catching up!

I've gone part time at work so that I can pursue my career plan and get a better job. I may be forced to just quit my job before finding another one because they've rejected my holiday. I have plans to see Edward Scissorhands ballet (LOL) at The Mayflower Theatre and the rest of the weekend, Roux and I were going to spend in London. I'm not cancelling my holiday. NO WAY. So sod off Frau Lisa, you bitch-trog from the fiery pits of hell!

Ahem, yeah...

Dreaming of Albert Square... [Nov. 2nd, 2005|11:33 am]
[Current Mood |cheerfulcheerful]

What a completely creepy dream I just had!

For some reason I was Ruby from Eastenders and I was staying at my friends house. The odd part was that my friend wasn't Stacey, it was some girl I had never seen in my life. I was watching Trisha this morning (lol) and the girl that I dreamt about was on it! How remarkable! Anyway, back to the dream... I was in the square and Pat Butcher was in trouble with someone and Peggy was offering to stay with her until the trouble died down. I was saying something like "I should be the one to stay with you. No one would dare mess with me because then they would have to answer to Johnny and the Mitchell brothers!"

Pat wouldn't agree to it incase I got hurt so I went back to my friends house. Next thing I remember, I was sat on her kitchen floor with Vin Diesel eating nachos in a tray (like the ones at work) listening to my friend tell us about the Nightmare Before Christmas beach that was nearby and could only be reached at a certain time in the morning. She was talking about getting time off of work to take us there. Vin Diesel threw a nacho on my lap, so I threw one back, then he dragged me onto his lap and started pulling the flesh on my thigh and it was really painful and i was hitting him to get off. That's when my alarm went off!

It's grim up North... [Oct. 24th, 2005|12:14 am]
My return to LJ was something of a failure as i've been in York for my sisters birthday. But here do I return!

So as regards to the Corpse Bride premiere:
We managed to get to the front - opposite the Press section - and we only had to wait 3 hours before Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter arrived. They were both lovely. Helena's PA told us that she wouldn't be signing anything more after the girl next to me, but I gave her a pleading look and held out paper and pen and she grinned at me and signed it. She is stunning in real life. She was radiant and twinkly-eyed and she smelt of angels! LOL. I was nearly converted... nearly. Tim was adorable and spent absolutely ages making sure that most fans got stuff signed. At one point, he even made the press wait with their photos and interviews because he'd forgotten to sign stuff for a small group of people behind him! Lastly, we nabbed one of the cardboard banners from the barrier and some Yank tried to steal it from us but a Bobby was watching and made him give it back! Comical genius!

In other news... My brother found a website with hundreds of celebrity contact addresses, so I randomly wrote to a bucket-full of british celebrities and asked for autographs. These are the ones I've got back so far:

Colin Firth, Maggie Smith, Ewan McGregor, Emma Thompson, Keira Knightley, Charlie Higson and best of all - HUGH LAURIE! WOOHOO! )

And last but certainly not least: tonight sees the arrival of the Mitchell Brothers to our television sets!! WOOHOO!! So EVERYONE tune in to Eastenders tonight because it's going to be fanfuckingtastic.

P.S. I just bought tickets to Natalie Imbruglia even after splashing out on clothes today (including a bargain official England footy shirt for just £11.99!) Won't someone take my credit card away from me please?!

oh my friend you haven't changed/you're looking rough and living strange... [Oct. 18th, 2005|12:38 am]

I HAVE RE-ENTERED THE TEMPLE OF LIVE JOURNAL!

I hope nobody's forgotten me.

I have, of course, missed about a trillion different posts from people and I also have to update my own journal. Sadly, now is not the time for doing either.

But soon!

I've been meaning to get back to my LJ ways for a while and tonight is the perfect time for a new post because lil' old me has just had the most awesome pleasure of meeting Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter at the Corpse Bride premiere in Leicester Square! *Trembles with shock* I'll share all the details in my next post, but for now I'm going to trot off to bed (with all the excitement its been a tiring day).

I hope you are all well and will forgive my neglect.

For tomorrow (hopefully) xx

Another London update... [Jul. 7th, 2005|02:14 pm]
208 treated at Royal London Hospital.

10 critical, 7 seriously injured. 3 double decker buses have arrived carrying walking-wounded.

I wish there was something I could do to help. And I wish my dad could get home from London.

Jesus, they just showed BMA building at Woburn Place where the bus exploded. There is blood spattered on the face of the building. Its really sick. What is wrong with people?! Why would anyone want to cause chaos and destruction? This is horrible...

Edit: A branch of Al-Quaeda have claimed credit for the attacks (whether or not they actually carried them out is another matter) but they've also warned Italy and Denmark that they 'will be next' if they don't pull their troops out of Iraq.

33 known fatalities. 21 died in the Kings Cross blast, 5 in the Edgware blast and 7 at Liverpool Station.

(no subject) [Jul. 7th, 2005|10:59 am]
Update on London:

At least 90 injured, 20 dead.

Blair is staying at the G8 meeting, despite the terrorist attacks. He's going to make a statement at 12 noon.

Nearly all forms of transport in central London have been suspended.

People have been informed by Police not to call the emergency services unless their problem is life threatening.

Edit: It's now seven explosions.

Blair is leaving the G8 to come down to London for an emergency meeting, before heading back to the G8 one in the evening (as they're going to continue the meeting without him).

10 ambulances and many police have been sent from Essex into central London to help out.

LONDON BLASTS [Jul. 7th, 2005|10:25 am]
OMG has anyone heard the news? The report just came on during the program we were watching.

The whole undergrounds been closed off. I thought my dad might have been caught in it, but my mum's just got hold of him and he's okay, but they're cancelling trains in and out of London so he's probably going to be stuck there tonight. It's so recent that the only report I can find of this on the internet is:

Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker!! [Jun. 22nd, 2005|02:00 pm]
[Current Mood |lazylazy]

My Green Day weekend was amazing. The shows were on top form and I think Billie Joe thought that too because he said: "We come from California, but as of tonight, England is officially Green Day's new home!" Lol. He said it was the biggest shows they've ever played (65,000 each night) and they had a fantastic fireworks display afterwards. Man, it was just awesome. The only thing that tainted it's greatness was the company my sister and me had to endure. Lol.

I've been cancelling a lot of outings this week (through lack of money and laziness) and all I seem to want to do is sit at home and watch Bruce Willis films. I could see myself turning into a recluse. But for tonight, I'm off to a Rob Thomas gig in London. Jesus, I don't even feel like I can be bothered to fo that. I really am a lazy spiv.

Oh yeah, and I gotta By Jovi gig on saturday! LOLE!!!!!!!11!!!!1!!!! Roll on the good times...

PS - I love Pete. And his voice. And I wish he was a victorian sailor addicted to Opium. (Sorry, it's a Pullman thing...)

I have a major cold! [Jun. 16th, 2005|09:37 am]
Hey, I'm still alive. Went to see Batman Begins last night. I have to say, it was incredible! Quite a British cast, too. The only problem with it was that, in my opinion, Katie Holmes was miscast for that role. But Chrisitan Bale was fantastic.

I also saw Rumble Fish last week and loved it so fiercely that I've pretty much been watching it everyday since... Mickey Rourke was so intensely beautiful as The Motorcycle Boy.

I'm going to see Green Day on saturday and sunday. I'm really excited, but it's turning out to be a lot of trouble. The transport was the first problem. Then we found out that my sisters working on saturday so she can't go and we had to hawk the ticket. Then my friend says she can't go on sunday, so now we're trying to find someone to sell *that* ticket to. What a dilemma! None of my friends are that mad on Green Day to pay £30 last minute and go to Milton Keynes. Doh...

Oh, also... somebody told me that there was a village where Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was being (or is being) printed, where they think the mystery character that dies was leaked because a great majority of the village went to the bookies to bet high amounts of cash on the same character. The stupid twat that told me this also told me the character name. I'm fucking distraught. Words can not express. I only hope that he's wrong...

Help needed, people! [May. 24th, 2005|12:39 am]
Does anyone know a good site that lets you design and host your website there? Geocities is arse now - it's only got that stupid 'Page Wizard' thing - and I don't know how to code either. I was attempting to use Dreamweaver, but thats rubbish too. Any suggestions?

Damon Albarn To Play London Eye [May. 23rd, 2005|09:09 am]
'Damon Albarn and Turin Brakes are among the artists who will perform on the London Eye as part of the Make Trade Fair Campaign. Each of the artists will take over one of the 32 pods on The Eye in order to promote the transformation of cultural attitudes toward Africa in 2005. Entitled Flight 5065, the event will take place on June 21st and will feature artists from the worlds of music, theatre and comedy. The event’s objectives are to promote and celebrate Africa prior to the forthcoming G8 summit. Each of the London Eye's 32 capsules will become a venue for exclusive live performances from the likes of Damon Albarn, turin breaks, Beth Orton, Karl Hyde of Underworld, hip-hop artist Jonzi-D and many others. Tickets are priced at £21 and ‘flights’ will leave at 7:30pm, 8:15pm and 9:00pm. Every journey will involve 20 passengers and an in-flight performance lasting just under 30 minutes. However, ticket-holders won’t know who’ll be performing for them as the artists will draw pods at random.'

That is so shit! When I saw the title I got stupidly excited. Then I read the article. I can't believe you have to pay £21 (plus trainfare!) in the hope that you will be lucky enough to:
a) Be selected as one of the 20 people, and
b) Be selected for the capsule that Damon happens to be playing in!
God, that's so depressing. I've been waiting to see Damon again, but its such a rubbish idea to draw a lucky dip, so to speak. GAH.
